Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) continued its sponsorship of the forums of the Union of Arab Banks by providing the gold sponsorship of the conference entitled "The road to Basel 4, the basic amendments expected in the post-crisis phase” which was held in cooperation with the Association of Banks in Jordan and under the patronage of H.E Dr. Ziad Fariz, Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan.
A number of prominent banking figures attended the conference, which was held at the Kempinski Hotel Dead Sea on 9/10/2018 and continued for two days, to highlight the final paper published by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and includes a set of reform amendments to the standard methodologies to credit risk measurement and management, which is the final revision of Basel III. This review is in the direction of correcting the course adopted in the standard approaches to managing and measuring credit and operating risks and the underlying causes of these adjustments and narrowing the gap between standard and advanced approaches.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh, General Manager of JIB commended the efforts of the Union of Arab Banks, the Central Bank of Jordan and the Association of Banks in Jordan to hold this meeting to improve the performance and operations of Arab and Jordanian banks and to follow the most recent developments that accompany the banking process and the challenges facing them. He stressed the Bank's assuming its social responsibilities through its continuous support for various meetings that support Arab banking sector in general and Islamic banking in particular to come out with results that sustain various efforts aimed at supporting Arab banking and economic business.
For his part, Mr. Wissam Fattouh, Secretary General of the Union of Arab Banks expressed his happiness at the continuation of the Union of Arab Banks to hold its forums in Jordan, which is characterized by providing all the appropriate conditions for holding these specialized meetings and with the participation of many Arab and regional institutions and bodies. He asserted his pride in the ongoing partnership with Jordan Islamic Bank, the main supporter of the activities and forums of the Union of Arab Banks, and extended his thanks to the Bank for its support, sponsorship and participation in this conference.
