Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) provided the diamond sponsorship for the forum on “Mechanisms for Drying up the Sources of Financing Terrorism” organized by the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) in cooperation with the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ), Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) and the Financial Action Task Force ( MENA FATF), under the auspices of the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, H.E Dr Ziad Fariz, by a participation of elite of bankers, economists and specialists. However, the forum was convened on February 10th , Amman , Intercontinental Hotel and continued for two days.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh , Chairman of Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) delivered a welcoming remark in which he commended the role of the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) , the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) and Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) for their prompt follow up with the recent developments on banking business and continual pursuit to notice any challenges facing the process of Arab banks, especially the issue of mechanisms and methods for drying up the sources of financing terrorism which is a source of global concern for its negative impact on the economies of countries at the Arab and worldwide levels. He called as well for holding further forums which contribute to support the procedures aiming to control this epidemic.
Shihadeh indicated that JIB’s participation and support to these meetings is an assertion of the bank’s assuming its social and economic responsibilities and to make a room for specialists to discuss and look into issues which add a quality to banking business and Islamic banking sector and contribute to develop them to serve community citizens and local and Arab economy.
Moreover, Dr. Hussein Said , Deputy General Manager of JIB participated in the first session of the forum with a worksheet titled” Enhancing Financial Inclusion” in addition to the participation of a group of the bank’s senior specialized staff in various sessions of the forum.
Mr. Wisam Fattouh, Secretary General of UAB handed Jordan Islamic Bank an honorary shield in appreciation of its support for UAB’s forums and conferences which contribute to support banking business process.
