Under the patronage of his Royal Highness Prince Raad bin Zeid, Chief Chamberlain, Jordan Islamic bank held a dinner banquet in honor of relatives of cornea donors and that was during a ceremony for distributing certificates of appreciation for them, on Saturday 24/4/2010. The ceremony was organized by Jordan eye bank, prevention of blindness and its friends ‘society. The ceremony took place in central Jabri restaurant.
Prince Raad handed an honorable shield to Mr. Musa Shihadeh, vice chairman, general manager of JIB as a personal honoring for him and for the bank’s pioneer role in serving Jordan community citizens.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh referred in a speech he delivered during the ceremony to the importance of taking after the relatives of cornea donors to give a chance for those who are exposed to lose their sight to restore it, asserting the bank’s continuation to assume social responsibilities through its positive interaction with community. However, these responsibilities do not stand at consolidating Islamic values in normal banking transactions, but also exceed to contribute efficiently in many voluntary, charitable, social programs and activities that bring goodness to citizens and strengthen the interdependence and solidarity between society individuals especially for community members with special needs. The bank persisted annually and for more than fifteen years to offer records and convertors to Abdulla bin Om Maktoom for blinds school to assist its students in educational process, in addition to its contribution in the success of collective wedding parties especially for people with special needs.
It is worth mentioning that the total donations granted by Jordan Islamic bank for various charitable activities within its participation in holding social responsibility towards citizens during thirty years since its inaugurating banking industry till the end of 2009 amounted to around JD5, 7 million.
