Mr. Musa Shihadeh, General Manager of Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) and Mr. Omar Al-Maani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Structures for Renewable Energy Company, signed an agreement to establish a renewable power station for the bank to work on the photovoltaic solar system to generate electricity using solar energy to cover 85% of the consumption of branches, (Amman, Zarqa, Madaba and Salt). The plant is located at the site of the Bank's Bonded Center in Sahab in the King Abdullah II Industrial City. Under the agreement signed at Jordan Islamic Bank’s head office, the company will Install, inspect, operate and connect an electric power plant using a solar cell system.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh said our bank has set up a solar power plant as a practical application of the bank's social responsibility and to implement the Bank's strategic sustainability plan based on renewable energy and environmental protection. The Bank has continued to adopt alternative energy projects at its headquarters to be the first Jordanian bank to introduce solar energy to its operations since 2013 by generating electricity based on solar energy in some branches to complete the construction of this plant to cover more branches. During next year, it is intended to establish a power plant in the north governorates (Irbid, Ramtha, Jerash, Ajloun and Mafraq) to cover the bank’s branches and offices from electricity, in support of the national economy , contribution to reduce electricity consumption bill and reduce the import of petroleum derivatives.
For his part, HE Mr. Omar Al-Maani expressed his pleasure to sign this agreement with Jordan Islamic Bank, which is an active participant in protecting the environment and supporting the national economy through this partnership with the Structures Company for Renewable Energy, specializing in the supply, import, storage, sale, installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
