Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) has participated in the opening ceremony of electric power generation project using solar cells of Islamic Centre Association / Islamic Hospital which is financed by Jordan Islamic Bank by the mode of Istisna’a in compliance with provisions and principles of Islamic Sharia and with partial support by European Union to be the first project in Jordan to use a transit system in Braik area , south of the kingdom.
Deputy Prime Minister, HE Dr. Saleh Kharabsheh , Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources inaugurated the project with the presence of ambassador of European Union in Jordan , companies executing the project, chairman and members of the administrative organization and general manager of Islamic Centre Association on Monday 20/11/2017.
On behalf of Mr. . Musa Shihadeh, GM of JIB, Dr, Musa Mubarak , Executive Manager of Corporate Banking Department delivered a statement during the ceremony in which he exposed the bank’s role in assuming its social, economic and developmental responsibilities through its initiatives in facing power problems, which are considered the most important challenges confronting national economy including providing financings for this project in addition to provide other financial and consulting solutions to environmentally friendly projects and products such as financing hybrid cars , the launch of “ Our Sun “ product to finance renewable energy system for individuals and corporates , support renewable energy projects in cooperation with renewable energy fund and energy conservation , Jordan Loan guarantee Company to guarantee the risks of financing renewable energy for individuals, governmental institutions and SMEs in addition to the continuation to ensure alternative power in its headquarters to be the first bank in Jordan to introduce solar system to its operations since 2013 and work is under progress to incorporate two primary stations of solar power to furnish the bank’s branches in Amman and Irbid. Moreover, the bank contributed to support the national program to enable some schools in remote areas to cover their needs of electric power with clean and inexpensive technology by supervision of Princess Alia Bint AlHussein Institution to install and operate solar power units to generate electricity in three public schools located in remote areas in Jordan.
At the end of the ceremony, the Minister of Energy and Chairman of administrative organization of Islamic Centre Association handed JIB an honorary shield, commending JIB’s efficient role in meaningful projects to support national economy.
For his part, Dr Ammar Abu Sbeih . Director Manager of Islamic Hospital extended his thanks and appreciation to Jordan Islamic Bank for providing the financing and contribution to the success of the project, so Islamic Hospital has become the first hospital in Jordan which adopts this technology and accordingly reduces the electric power bills of the hospital
