For the third consecutive year, Jordan Islamic Bank (JIB) participated as a diamond sponsor in the third international conference for Islamic finance and banking titled “Islamic investment sukuk and its impact on the economic development”. The conference was held in the University of Jordan by an organization of Islamic banks department, Faculty of Sharia, under the patronage of Prof. Azmi Mahaftha, president of the University of Jordan with the attendance and participation of academics, economists, specialized researchers and students and it continued for two days during the period 3-4 August 2016.
Mr. Musa Shihadeh, CEO , General Manager of JIB delivered an opening remark at the conference in which he said that the bank’s participation in most conferences organized by Islami banks department is an assertion of the mutual interest between our bank and university of Jordan to upgrade the scientific and practical aspects related to Islamic banking finance and follow up different updates concerning it through supporting the complementary relationship in theoretical academic aspect and the practical aspect between educational and economic sectors and the importance of the outcomes that these specialized meetings find out and it is a confirmation of the influential role of Islamic banking in the academic and economic levels.
Mr. Shihadeh chaired the first session of the conference which discussed the regulatory legislations of the issuance of Islamic investment sukuk in the Arab countries and their Sharia reference. Dr Hussein Said , Deputy General Manager of JIB participated in a session discussed the experiences of issuing Islamic investment sukuk ( challenges and success factors ) in addition to the efficient participation of a group of the bank’s staff in different sessions.
Prof. Azmi Mahaftha commended the distinguished role of JIB in providing the sponsorship and support for all activities of the university and handed Mr. Musa Shihadeh an honorary shield in recognition of the bank’s efforts in supporting the conference.
Prof. Mohammad AlKhatib, the dean of the Sharia faculty expressed how much pleased he is with the strategic partnership between the faculty of sharia and JIB and its permanent initiatives to support the activities of the faculty and its academic and educational course by placing the experience of JIB and its leadership in Islamic banking business at the hands of the students.
Dr Hiyam Alzedanieen, head of Islamic banks department delivered a statement in which she extended her tanks to JIB for its constant sponsorship of the meetings and conferences organized by the Islamic banking departments and for making a room to the students to recognize the nature of the bank’s operations and its pioneer experience in Islamic banking business.
